Hey guys, I'm playing D1 seriously again, only in WinXP as my last Mac able to run classic MacOS died a while back. Is there a good mule app for SP D1 on Windows you'd recommend? TIA, Jamie Kahn Genet -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

It looks like I lost it in one purge-for-hard-drive-space or another, but a Google search through here (agd) for Jammel's Trainer, if I'm right (and I believe I am), or trainer (there were several other options, but the one I'm thinking of worked best for me) should turn it up. ald "Knowledge is Power" VK`Sister`ald level 47 Rogue (HF V&K) (RIP :-( ) Matriarch Sis-West level 82 Bowazon (US West) Champion RingsNThngs level 61 Bowazon (US West) Slayer ZannEsu-ald level 51 Sorceress (US West) Matriarch Sis-AR level 99 Bowazon (Ancestral Recall Mod) Champion Creepy-AR Level 91 Necromancer (AR) Slayer Zan-AR Level 79 Sorceress (AR) Slayer SisEight-AR Level 78 Bowazon (AR) Gems-AR Level 55 Barbarian (AR) Matriarch Sis-otSEye Level 78 Bowazon (US West, co-op) BtaSisEight-ald Level 50 Bowazon (LoD 1.10 SP) Aragorn-AR Level 51 Zealadin (AR) Champion LTwoSis-ald Level 79 Bowazon (US West Ladder) CotSRSig #16 http://fishnet.webhop.org/ald

I think it was jamiekg@wizardling.geek.nz (Jamie Kahn Genet) that wrote something like... >Hey guys, I'm playing D1 seriously again, only in WinXP as my last Mac >able to run classic MacOS died a while back. Is there a good mule app >for SP D1 on Windows you'd recommend? > >TIA, > Jamie Kahn Genet As best I recall, in D1 you could just drop the items on the ground in town and they'd stay there forever, in single player, so no need to mule them off to another character to keep them safe. Regardless I want to share items between toons - it sucks getting a rare rogue bow dropping for a warrior, for example. -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

There are a few people playing D1 occasionally in group games on the Amazon Basin. Perhaps one of them knows a trick or two? Worth a look, maybe.

jamiekg@wizardling.geek.nz (Jamie Kahn Genet) looked up from reading the entrails of the porn spammer to utter "The Augury is good, the signs say: >Hey guys, I'm playing D1 seriously again, only in WinXP as my last Mac >able to run classic MacOS died a while back. Is there a good mule app >for SP D1 on Windows you'd recommend? Well, back in the day I used what referred to itself as a trainer to save the items as file, then loaded the items onto whatever character I preferred them on. Of course that would allow you to duplicate items too. According to the old backup, it was Draven's Diablo Trainer Addon v1.77, the file is Dhack.exe. Hrm, also seem to have another one called DIE.exe Titled "Diablo Item Editor by CutiX" when running. Don't have any recollection of this one. And another app called trader.exe, which seems to be another save file editor allowing import/export of items - calls itself "The Trader" and if I recall correctly, you could only import and item to replace an existing item (although you could import an armor into a potion and the like.) They're all pretty small, so If you like I can rar em up and mail em to you directly if you can't locate them any other way. Hrm, also seem to have a "Raymond's Diablo Trainer" as well, which says it only works on Diablo 1.4, 1.4 and Hellfire. I seem to have the original zip archives for all of these if you'd like them. Fwiw, due to a repost of an epic Dalai spot report/tale on our guild website today, and my Googling to try to remember who played one of the characters referenced therein, I found most all of the thread, including a reference by me to the trainer I used. A quick glance at the Google results for Raymond's Trainer doesn't provide a direct link, but implies that it may still be available today. ald "Knowledge is Power" VK`Sister`ald level 47 Rogue (HF V&K) (RIP :-( ) Matriarch Sis-West level 82 Bowazon (US West) Champion RingsNThngs level 61 Bowazon (US West) Slayer ZannEsu-ald level 51 Sorceress (US West) Matriarch Sis-AR level 99 Bowazon (Ancestral Recall Mod) Champion Creepy-AR Level 91 Necromancer (AR) Slayer Zan-AR Level 79 Sorceress (AR) Slayer SisEight-AR Level 78 Bowazon (AR) Gems-AR Level 55 Barbarian (AR) Matriarch Sis-otSEye Level 78 Bowazon (US West, co-op) BtaSisEight-ald Level 50 Bowazon (LoD 1.10 SP) Aragorn-AR Level 51 Zealadin (AR) Champion LTwoSis-ald Level 79 Bowazon (US West Ladder) CotSRSig #16 http://fishnet.webhop.org/ald

It is a Java app that runs in Windows or OSX so, if your OS can run D2, you can run GoMule too! It also includes a handy drop calculator to quickly work out the best spots to run for the gear you're after. -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

Ok I resent them separately as Diablo Editors 1-5 with one attachment each. dhack.zip (175,257 bytes), dtrain54.zip (180,456), itemedit.zip (165,075), raymond.zip (308,693) and trader.zip (9,719). In this case you would place your files (or to make it easier zip them all together into one meta archive) into your Dropbox Public folder, wait a few seconds for them to begin syncing with the Dropbox site, then rightclick on each and 'Copy Public Link'. Then paste this link into an email or Usenet post, and send. Once the files are finished syncing, your recipients can then start downloading them simply by clicking on said links, even if you've since gone offline (but finished syncing first, of course), as it's from the Dropbox site, not you. Dropbox also offers secure sharing (public sharing only generates non-secure yet random and hard to guess links - but is easier. So you'd use it for something like this, but not for sharing your tax records with your accountant), and photo sharing with a nice web UI for people to view your photos. -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

I'll investigate them this weekend, if I don't get too badly sucked into EverQuest instead, heh. I go through phases, but D1 always comes back to the top of the pile, if only briefly. The nostagia with the finest online multiplayer experiences I ever had is strong, and even if there's only SP left nowadays, it's warm fuzzies all around firing up D1 after a year away. D1 is also still the most atmospheric action RPG ever made, IMO. I even have it's soundtrack in iTunes and on my iPod :-) -- If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.
