I am trying to use the DEVIL editor but every time I run it it stops its initialization and says it can initialize my graphic display. I have a VESA system but I can't find the recommended 'vesa.com' command the docs say I should try if this happens. I have a Cirrus Logic SVGA card and none of the disks it came with looks like a memory resident driver. Any help would be greatly appreciated. L8R...Sean dre...@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu

I used a generic vesa driver that came with a graphics viewer program called DISPLAY. It a really nice freeware viewing program that handles most formats and has a ton of features. Anyway there was a vesa driver in the DRIVER subdirectory of the DISPLAY program. I think the latest version is called DISP187A.ZIP and DISP187B.ZIP Install these using the -d option of PKUNZIP, this will restore the directory structure of the program. Then I set up a batch program called START.BAT that contained the following two lines: SET GO32=DRIVER C:\DISPLAY\DRIVERS\VESA111.VDR DEVIL Vesa111.vdr was the video driver from DISPLAY that worked with my board, though it should work with most VESA compatible cards. Good luck. Regards, Randy Hester

It can be found at: ftp: oak.oakland.edu path: /simtel/msdos/vga/uvesa42.zip It doesn't cost anything to use and it works fine. Good luck, Joshua Cantrell s...@crl.com j...@rop.edu

You need to load a bios extension like univesa.com with cirrus video
cards to giive them vull Vesa 1.2 compatibility... That is why DEVIL
won't run...
