One of the most annoying things I find with DESCENT while in deathmatch
is the PING-PONG matches. I kill you, you kill me right after. This cycle
repeats when you play with others of equal skill. Since SHIELDS and ENERGY
are treated as separate resources, after heavy battles, the weakened player
looses to the the next round of fighthing. Unless by chance, a few pot-shots
take out your enemy. What would be really good is if shields could
re-generate as a function of energy. The more you have the faster it firms
up. That way you can decide to back-off and catch your breath until you are
ready to slug it out again. The way it stands right now, if you are low on
shields, the only choice you have is to make a suicide run and hope for the
best on the next round.
