As a consultant I once had to interface with a user representative that insisted I could not deliver small useful pieces of the master plan. He claimed that I could get to the last requirement and end up having to throw out everything. I tied delivering outlines for all the things his department was looking for. Each a small deliverable. His position was that I had to expand each into a complete specification before any real work could be done. Fought that bastard for a couple of years, then I asked to be moved somewhere where I could be more useful. I did do a lot of useful stuff despite the constant obstacles from the user representative. -- Dan Espen
