I am in process of selecting hardware and NOS for new accounting, manufacturing, and distribution software package that is based on Oracle7 and written completely in Designer/Developer 2000. I am looking for advice as to the best combination of hardware and NOS. We currently run on a single Compaq Proliant 1500 on Netware 3.12 with 100 users. Need to purchase server for Oracle database and upgrade Compaq for muliprocessing. Expect to run Oracle on Unix or NT. Should I upgrade the Compaq to latest and greatest Novell or switch to NT. Old server will be for general file/print serving and groupware (Email, group scheduling, etc.). Any thoughts? Any comments on UNIX vs. NT vs. Netware? DEC vs. Compaq?
