I'm really stuck, and would appreciate a gentle nudge in the right direction.

1) Enter the temple. Find secret teleporter to "resurrections-r-us". Go
up stairs. Defeat cleric. Stuck. No keys to open doors. Am I missing
something?

2) Go to 1st level of dungeon. Find dead guy's remains, with partial map of
first level showing location of secret doors. Go through secret doors. Go
down stairs to second level of dungeon. Immediately confronted by a door.
No key to open door. Stuck. Am I missing something?

3). Blow off second level. Go to third level. Find all sorts of secret
doors. Rescue dwarven cleric (not much help without holy symbol, though).
Have explored every single square inch of every wall, to no avail-- cannot
find any more secret doors. So: need either a key which fits one of the two
"skull shaped" keyholes, or the key that fits the glowing blue keyhole.
Stuck. I'm thinking that the keys that I need were on the second level that
I never explored?...

A more general question. My party has no thief. Would a thief be able to
pick most or all of these locks, thus greatly reducing the penalty that I pay
for being too stupid to find keys? If so, I can start over again with a new
party. I guess the best case scenario is that I wasn't supposed to be able
to explore the priests' quarters upstairs, and that the keys to the third
level locks were on the second level, so that all I have really missed is the
key that opens the door to the second level. <shrug> Frustrating.

Thanks in advance,

You'll find one copper key downstairs, after getting a clue
from Imsel the Thief (you've found him, haven't you?).
That will get you thru one door, and nosing around in there
will produce one more, but the rest will have to wait until
later in the game!!

My recommendation is, don't waste your time on a thief in the
party; I started with one, but discovered that he NEVER succeeds
in opening any IMPORTANT doors... they put in some special rooms
on the Priests' level which can ONLY be opened by a thief, but
there's nothing exciting there, and he never managed to open
anythingg else... I ended up starting over without wasting
the slot...

Also, another hint: Don't waste slots on NPCs, or your mage will
never get high enough to have 12th level spells before end of game,
though I didn't use spells to defeat DRAN anyway... spells really
don't work all that well in tthis gaming system...

Answers follow (well some do anyway!)

  Yes, Try going downstairs!

Err, I can't remember too well, either you need a silver(?) key or throw a
rock through it(if its a barred door).

When you enter the third level, turn right and go through the door there.
In the next room, there is a hole in the wall, a skull lock and a fireball
trap. If you stand away from the trap and throw a rock either at the wall
next to the hole or at the hole itself, a skull key will appear in the hole.
I can't remember which of the two locks you should open first however.

NOTE : After opening the lock where you found that first skull key, it is a
VERY wise idea to save your game regularly (VERY regularly)!!

I had a half elven fighter/thief in my party, and to be quite honest I didn't
really find him to be that much use. The keys for most (all?) the doors are
there, it's just a question of finding them!
