Yes, Try going downstairs!

Err, I can't remember too well, either you need a silver(?) key or throw a
rock through it(if its a barred door).

When you enter the third level, turn right and go through the door there.
In the next room, there is a hole in the wall, a skull lock and a fireball
trap. If you stand away from the trap and throw a rock either at the wall
next to the hole or at the hole itself, a skull key will appear in the hole.
I can't remember which of the two locks you should open first however.
NOTE : After opening the lock where you found that first skull key, it is a
VERY wise idea to save your game regularly (VERY regularly)!!

I had a half elven fighter/thief in my party, and to be quite honest I didn't
really find him to be that much use. The keys for most (all?) the doors are
there, it's just a question of finding them!
