Hi All, Playing games cooperatively against the computer is the best fun in my opinion. It is dissapointing to see how few cooperative multiplayer games exist. This is particularly true in the case of RPGs. Playing through Baldur's Gate with my wife was fantastic. I want more of these games! I will comment on a few games that would (have) be(en) great in cooperative mode: Caesar III/Pharaoh - you could divide the responsibilities and manage a city together. Each player could have an allocated budget. Rollercoaster Tycoon - same as above Planescape: Torment - it was my biggest dissapointment that this game does not have multiplayer support, but after all I forgive Black Isle, because it would be reading a book together Fallout 2 - the village should have sent two people to get a GECK X-Wing Alliance Nox - This upcoming Diablo-like RPG will NOT have coop multiplayer And the list could go on. I think most games today would do better if they supported cooperative multiplayer. Even shooters should have this mode, like Quake 2. If you agree let your voice be heard!!! I am in full agreement. I was very disappointed to find out that Nox wopuld not be co-op, and was equally disappointed to find that Revenant would only be co-op if I or someone else wrote the scenarios, that only Deathmatch scenarios were included. I really annoyed me that it is very hard to set up games like Unreal to use monsters, as well. I have never been able to start a multiplayer game with monsters included, even though the option is present. > > If you agree let your voice be heard!!! > > Black Void > > Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ > Before you buy.

Well, sure, but thieves and gangsters are two different kinds of criminals... also not sure if Gangsters has a coop mode or not... -- Knight37 "Living in the limelight, the universal dream, for those who wish to seem. Any strategy game that allows cooperative victory can be played with team work. E.g. Alpha Centauri. The adventure game "Zork: Grand Inquisitor", or so i recall being told, can be played cooperatively. -- Best wishes! Agreed. That's why my friends and I were so addicted to the arcade game Gauntlet back in the 80s, and now Gauntlet Legends on the N64. Nothing is better than having 4 friends work together to beat the living tar out of those hordes of monsters. Of course there are sometimes problems with the elf (aka archer) stealing everyone's food, but that can be dealt with! ;) -Cay <bv...@my-deja.com> wrote in message news:87c1d3$aev$1@nnrp1.deja.com... > Hi All, > > Playing games cooperatively against the computer is the best fun in my > opinion. Gotta agree. A good game with co-op is pretty much a "must buy" for
me.

Tried System Shock2 co-op? The first shooter I _really_ had fun with
in co-op mode, because of the differentiation allowed each player.

Apparently there was a memo distributed to the majority of developers stating that players, in fact, do not need/want cooperative play in games. I'm unsure who circulated this memo but it seems to have made its way to every major development house with only a few minor exceptions. Let me clarify for any developers which may read this: Not all gamers are serial killing 13 year olds hopped up on coca-cola and candy bars. Some gamers actually ENJOY cooperating with other humans against AI opponents. When you have only deathmatch you force a situation in which you may have one side which is massively more skilled than the other side. That is part of the reason so many people shy away from deathmatch type games, especially the guy who only has a few hours to play a night. Why go get raped by a 13 year old who has 8 hours a night to play Quake3, where is the fun in that? With an AI opponent you can *scale* the difficulty to make it a challenge without being too easy or impossible. Hopefully by some act of God developers will get this memo above, becuase right now, coop play is looking real bleak... I refer you to CTF and other mods which exist for practically every shooter in existence. Sure, you don't HAVE to cooperate in those mods, but if you do it's a LOT more fun! However, I guess you mean cooperating vs. the computer, not in team vs. team play... yeah, I agree, that's fun. More fun in a "campaign" setting, though; the standard "skirmish w/coop" type game gets old REALLY fast. -- -The Puppet Master nghs...@comp.nus.edu.sg OK, so I couldn't get a decent sig... Some of the most fun I've had is with a couple of strategy games played in co-op online. Myth and Rogue Spear. Almost any mission for Myth and Diamond Edge for Rogue Spear are the best missions to complete in co-op.
