After messing around with the Wolfenstein mapping program, I started messing around with the map to change things around. So if you think that Wolfenstein is too easy as is, try downloading NEWWMAP.ZIP from WUARCHIVE. Levels 1-3 have been slightly modified (especially level 1). Guards are now more aggressive and will open doors to come after you from several rooms away. Level one also has a few Gutentag guys to greet you. I am working on some kind of editor for the game. I don't know what the odds of finishing it are (I start working full time on Monday), but anyone could write one based on the source code for the WMAP21 program. If you can actually kill everyone on the modified level one then I am very impressed . . . PS. To help you out you have a machine gun in your cell . . . ha ha ha :) George Heinz

The second I saw George's article, I broke out of my newsreader, downloaded the new map, and played level one. All I can say is.... great! awesome! violent! the way Death Incarnate should be! I was running like hell the whole way through, too... like an escaped prisoner should. Thanks, George. I would like to take this opportunity to shamelessly beg for you to finish the map-making program, I think it would be great! But, in the meantime, thanks for reviving my interest in this now much-bloodier game! -- +-------------------------------------------------------------+ | Tom Proudfoot | | pro...@ocf.berkeley.edu ...catchy quote... | +-------------------------------------------------------------+
