Started by voice automating Supreme Commander 2. Kicked butt. Now I am working on Starcraft 2, to play against much better mouse slingers. The fact that you cannot plan ahead in Starcraft 2 (and most other RTS) greatly increases the difficulty of writing scripts/macros. I have completed a single script and beat an AI on Very Easy and Easy. Of course that's not saying much, but it's a start. I love real-time strategy, but don't deny the fact that victory goes to the fastest clicker. One way around that is to play on a very small map and allow for scripting. Playing with the map completely exposed might help too. Unfortunately, all that stuff is shunned by the masses, for the obvious reason. There was a recent thread on the Blizzard Starcraft forum about the importance of scouting. But no amount of simple scouting will make up for the overwhelming advantage that chance gives to the faster clicker. If your opponent's scout makes it through your defenses, you can change your plans as fast as your opponent can adjust to what he saw. Next up, use a single script/macro to beat the AI on Medium. If I can beat Starcraft 2 players with a single script, they may as well have doo-doo for brains. -- I plan to use this single thread for a while to post about my progress voice automating Starcraft 2.

Given Starcraft 2's lousy interface... Timing will remain an issue. Given that fact, the main goal is making the macro recording (including loose timing) as easy as possible. That means knowing what to build and when to build it, with timing. Easy recording is very important for adjusting strategy against mouse slingers, and that's the name of the game.
