Rushing is boring: it turns games which should have an incredibly varied
menu of tactical and strategic approaches into utterly unidimensional
clickfests. Don't you prefer it when a game offers many strategies for
victory? In a RTS where rushing is rewarded, it becomes the only strategy
for victory, and one hardly needs to even think about it.

PK'ing is ok if it is creative, if it is part of the game world. When it
becomes, once again, the *only* thing that a persistent-world multiplayer
CPRG is about, we are once again slighting the total range of
possibilities that the game provides.

In answer to the pollster, I'd say that Warcraft II and Starcraft both
fall short of their potential as multiplayer games because rushing is such
a prevalent, unidimensional approach. UO is the obvious example of a game
ruined by PK'ing, but I also thought that the combination of rampant
cheating plus rampant PK'ing in Diablo cut into that game's appeal.
