I'm afraid your "triple wrong"s must be applied to yourself. Counting
the millennium is just like counting numbers. When you count, do you
start at zero? No, you start at 1. So, the next decade occurs when you
hit 11, not 10. And equivalently, centuries and millennia do not have a
"zero-year". Hence, the year 2000 is the last year of this decade, the
last year of the 20th century, and the last year of the millennium.

The year 2001 begins a new decade, century, and millennium.

However, it is common *misconception* that years ending in "zero" are
special. This is just wrong. The misconception of millions doesn't
change the facts. The world was round and wasn't the center of the
universe in the 1400s regardless of how many believed it to be so.
However, "popular culture" screams and yells about the "next millennium"
and then there are things like the "millennium bug" but these are all
misnomers. Common knowledge is wrong. Year increments occur just like a
6-year-old child counts fingers. Can you find a 6-year-old who starts
counting at zero?
