Figured out how to make a very simple SCD file to include console
settings.
I experienced what I thought were technical difficulties trying to
upload the SCD file, so I uploaded it several times. I think any of
the uploads will do.

Subject: Supreme Commander: for presetting console commands
Start the game with that SCD file in your "gamedata" folder and it
should show up in the Mod Manager.
If you enable that mod, the view angle changes to 90° (in other words,
looking straight down at the map).
That's just one example of many settings (there are maybe a hundred or
more) you might want to change that aren't in the game Options. Those
console settings can be found by pressing the tilde key after starting
Supreme Commander and then pressing a letter like C or R. Very
difficult to read on my screen, I'm looking for a printout of all of
the commands.
Unfortunately there is no user-friendly way to alter the console
commands settings file, but here is the procedure as is.
... make a copy of the SCD file so you won't have to get it from the
binaries group again
... maybe uncheck the mod in Mod Manager (not sure if this step is
required)
... extract the SCD file using either WinZip or 7zip (7zip allows you
to "extract here" so you won't end up with an extra folder level at
the top
... the file of interest "gamemain.lua" is at the bottom of the folder
structure you just produced
... open that "gamemain.lua" file with a text editor
... inside are two lines like this
ConExecute("cam_nearpitch 90")
ConExecute("cam_farpitch 90")
those are the only lines of interest
... for those two lines, you can change the number to whatever you
want between 1 and 90
... you can delete those lines, or reproduce those lines and edit the
copies to include other settings, each setting on its own line
... the setting part is between the quotation marks, the other part
like "ConExecute" is static and should not be changed
... after you finish editing the "gamemain.lua" file, save and exit
... lastly, make the "mod" folder at the top of that produced folder
structure into an archive without compression, with the same name as
the SCD file (you might have to rename that original file first)
Here is a screenshot of my 7zip settings used to re-process the "mod"
folder without compression and with the name "console_commands.scd".

settings
Finally. In case your technical expertise is limited to downloading
the SCD file and placing it in your "gamedata" folder. If you ask, I
will include whatever settings you want and upload that custom SCD
file for placement in your "gamedata" folder.
Good luck and have fun.
