Typical for a cutting-edge game. > I expect it to be discounted very rapidly after the initial rush > of strategy-enthusiasts. Not yet, but I guess time will tell. Looks like sales have been up and down but they are the same as five days ago when I started monitoring that. Pleasantly surprising IMO for a real-time strategy (RTS) title that encourages strategy. > With your obsolete PC machinery, Supreme Commander should be a > slide-show very frequently in SP mode. Having both the demo and the retail version, that's not my impression. Opteron 152 (single core) Geforce 7950GT (bought it for Supreme Commander) 1 GB PC3200 RAM (hopefully 2 GB soon) Having used dual monitors for many years (usually for instant messaging, system monitoring, and stuff), currently I'm not sure the secondary monitor is desirable for the extra screen space. Supreme Commander has an innovative point and zoom feature (simple and very useful) that might make pushing the pointer to the edge of the screen a thing of the past. Why move your pointer out of position? While watching replays, I have had panning with the mouse/keyboard turned off and haven't missed it. That same feature combined with a configurable strategic icon view might reduce or eliminate the need for a minimap too. Having an easy rolling scroll wheel helps, I reduced the spring tension in mine. You can get dozens or more system specifications versus Supreme Commander performance from real gamers online at Gas Powered Games forum. There is a long thread devoted to posting just that information. I think this link will get you there. http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=419 The first page or two might be the old SupComMark test results when lower was better. That was soon changed to higher equals better. Good luck and have fun. > > > John Lewis >
