Okay, now you have me curious: did you type in all of the above by hand, or did you use cut and paste? Also, the impact of piracy on PC game sales is -- as has been stated several times already in this thread -- far less than the impact of various other factors, the most important of which I personally consider a general lack of balls in the industry. They all cater to an audience of clue- and penniless 15-year-olds by regurgutating the same tired tropes again and again, losing the business of their former customer base, i.e. adult, relatively sophisticated, increasingly embittered geeks with cravings to satiate and money to spend. Oh well. Perhaps the same thing will happen to the PC-games industry as is happening to Hollywood now: as fewer and fewer people show any interest in dull-witted, empty SFX-dominated "blockbusters" -- partially, I think, because the entertainment preferences of the masses are being catered to almost fully by celebrity trash culture and "reality" TV -- there has been a steadily increasing trickle of more offbeat, niche films (some of them poor, some of them quite good) emerging from said metaphorical industry centre. Mayhap some new fad will drive all the little kiddies away someday and make it necessary for the games companies to start considering its older (former) clientele again. Then again, it's easy for the industry to vilify their customers and blame the perceived slump on precisely the one group of people they should be catering to. That's corporate thinking for you. A bit like those obnoxious unskippable anti-piracy trailers you get on DVDs you *buy*. Ouch! Anyway, I'm beginning to ramble, which I'll happily leave to someone who can do that more amusingly and/or insightfully. Edo
