SupCom and scripting

Supreme Commander's combination of user-friendly zooming, recording
a screen location (shift plus tab), and being able to queue
unlimited items without having the resources in advance looks like
it will make for powerful scripting.

... start with a tiny little script that positions and records a
screen location, for example just use several zoom out commands from
the startup position and Shift+Tab to record that position

You can even do that part by hand at the start of the game, if
necessary.

... now write a script that queues everything you want in that view,
you do that with a recorder that just captures all of your commands

And that's it. When your enemy throws units at you and destroys some
of your stuff in that area, you simply select an engineer and hit a
key. Your screen is repositioned and all of your stuff is re-queued
(the script naturally will ignore everything that hasn't been
completely destroyed).

I think that will be great for your home base area, when it's
overrun.

I will use speech recognition for probably dozens of common commands
like "Scout 5" to select the nearest air factory, queue 5 scouts,
and rally them at my pointer location.

But even without speech recognition, with a few keyboard shortcuts,
Supreme Commander will accommodate very much in the way of saving
keystrokes and mouse clicks. All you have to do is find a macro
recorder that you can use. I think the last one I used that worked
in games was Macro Express. As far as I know, unfortunately, Game
Commander is long gone. Would be nice to have a gaming specific
macro program, speech or keyboard activated.

This promises to be a strategically intense era.

Good luck and have fun.
