seriously considering buying Force Feedback joystick. Has any1 played the game with FF and if so is it worth dishing out the dough for it?

We've been told by I-War players with the MS Sidewinder Force Feedback stick
that in their opinion it's one of the best implementations of force feedback
in a game.
The force feedback support includes:
* Recoil when firing weapons
* Resistance when making high speed turns (the stick stiffens)
* Jolts when you're hit by enemy weapons (the direction of jolt shows you
which
direction the attack came from!)
* The stick goes floppy when your attitude thrusters are knocked out. If
you yaw/roll thrusters
are disabled the stick is floppy only in the X direction, if the pitch
thrusters go out the stick is
floppy in the Y direction. If all your thrusters are out you can waggle
that stick, but you won't go
anywhere.
Plus numerous other small effects.
In most games the force feedback is a bit of a gimmick, but in I-War we
believe it's an aid to gameplay, not a hinderance.

That was the "party line" but unlike most it's actually true! Original had a bit of a bug of not working with display's greater than 256 colours (quick to change however). And sometimes didn't like it when you died and restarted but apart from these minor niggles it is worth it. While on the subject, Flight Unlimited 2 with latest patch is realistic (quite subtle) and is a great sim. Much better than FS98 mainly because of relatively accurate use of the tower (freq. changes, airspace and flight control). -- Bartolomeo@ N O S P S A M msn.com Alter that obviously :-) "Bill Gates is a white Persian cat and a monocle away from becoming another James Bond villain."--Dennis Miller >We've been told by I-War players with the MS Sidewinder Force Feedback stick >that in their opinion it's one of the best implementations of force feedback >in a game. > >The force feedback support includes: > >* Recoil when firing weapons >* Resistance when making high speed turns (the stick stiffens) >* Jolts when you're hit by enemy weapons (the direction of jolt shows you >which > direction the attack came from!) >* The stick goes floppy when your attitude thrusters are knocked out.
