I would recommend Journal Macro or AIM Keys as a macro making program, it's easy to make simple macro's to drag and drop from cargo hold to open can. Personally I dont have a problem with something like that, as it still requires your attention, just means you can watch a video or read a book while looking at screen every now and then. OK, just tell us which system and belt you will be in, and I'll pop round and remove you and your cans while you are reading your book. Or just let us know your in-game handle and we'll get you banned. As the previous poster says, macros are against the rules. If you don't like that, find another game. Whine. If you want to pop some macro miners, why dont you find one of the bands of 5+ macro miners that CCP refuses to ban? You know, the ones that have fully automated operations that have 4+ miners and 1 account running an indy back and forth, all automatically. Some guy having a simple macro to drag and drop from cargo hold to can, just so he doesnt have to tab out of his movie every 2 mins isnt going to change anything, the same amount of minerals is being mined. Next time you want to whine/whinge/moan/rant, find a better topic. PS: EULA says they can delete your characters for no reason whatsoever, why dont you petition them to do just that. Its still cheating and against the rules of the game. If you can't accept the rules find another game to play. "Oh can't watch my movie, cry cry... " is that supposed to be a excuse for cheating? doh! > Next time you want to whine/whinge/moan/rant, find a better topic. The only one here whine is you when people point out what you are doing is cheating and breaking the rules of the game. sad little twerp.

I don't really see it as cheating, more of an exploit. Okay, put it this way. They obviously know its a tiring, boring part of the game so that's why they clamp down on macro miners trying to make it easier. How about if I paid my next door neighbours kid to sit there and do it for me after I have shown him what to do? I then go out and enjoy myself while he slaves away. What's the difference?

No, the only person whining is you, when you try stuff words in my mouth because you dont actually have the intelligence to come up with an argument. All you can cry is "ITS CHEATING ITS CHEATING"(no it's not) and "ITS BREAKING TEH RULES"(yes it is), you cant actually come up with any other kind of argument. You cant argue about how it affects the economy, how it cuts down on player count(because pure macro miners are usually on trial accounts), how it forces players out of systems and out of mining altogether. Get a grip and be thankful you didnt post your charname with your threat.

PS, I dont macro mine, i've only played ~33 hours in the last year(at least that's what xfire tells me). Frankly, the game bores me and I only keep accounts open to train skills - but I have been playing since january 2003. actually, that's not a valid argument. Your base assumption is that there's a difference, visa vis 'macro mining', between cheating and 'exploiting'...it's an official violation of the EULA. why are you debating something already decided? Actually, i'm worried that this reference to "AIM keys" means that this whole 'macro-ing' phenomenon is actually easier than i assumed. Why do i find this troubling? because i myself use a "minute timer" to audibly ding to prompt me to drag-drop manually...now, if 'macro-ing' is just a hop-skip-and-jump away from an eggtimer -- in CCP's eyes -- then they could consider ANY attempt at using 3rd party programs to help one mine to be EULA violations. CCP is like every other MMOG developer: they've succumbed to the temptation to be social engineers (mad scientists playing with sticks and carrots) ... and that, ladies and gentlemen, is why i stopped playing eve-online. http://www.virtualworldlets.net/Tutorials/Hosted/DoomedFail.php

Cheating is something that gives an unfair advantage, unless macro mining magically mines more than if you were watching it, it's not cheating. btw, it wasnt me who asked for location to pod, it was you so dont be stupid. >You just happend to know about macro programs to >recomended, and how easy >it was to drag and drop with them (from post you made >earlier). No, I actually had to google macro maker and see what names came up that I recognised. Drag and drop is simply moving the mouse between two area's and doing a mouse click once, if you think only eve has behaviour like this, and macro programs are only for games, you're a bigger idiot than you appear. >Thats not called playing thats called sleeping. Skills >doesnt mean jack >when you dont have practice and experience to go with >them. Is that jealousy I hear? :(

Doesn't say much for a game if it's cheating to automate something incredibly mundane, and boring. I played Jumpgate in the beta and it was an unbelievable waste of time. Looks like Eve has even surpassed JG in it's dullness. I've had the unopened Eve box on my shelf for nearly a year, but the thought of playing it hasn't even generated enough excitement to install the game.

Using macro's gives you a adventage over those who don't because you can automate your gameplay and benefit from it by not physical be in front of the screen and playing yourself. Which is cheating no matter how you put it. >>Thats not called playing thats called sleeping. Aww, best you can come up with again is "ITS TEH CHEATZORING!" Get a clue, then try argue about something you currently cant seem to understand. Time /=/ cheating. As others have already pointed out, most MMO's come with built in macro's that could do this stuff easily. 32.5mil sp is nothing, try having 15 tech 2 bpo's and assets of 30billion isk before you brag, and that's with me playing WoW since february. ps, if you want an example of cheating, try any one of the numerous dupe exploits eve has suffered from, I quite liked the one where RUS amassed so much duped megacyte in secure cans, it stopped roids with megacyte from being respawned. Didn't know this was a pissing contest, you don't know what I got of assets or not in EVE. Its easy to brag about what you got, how about put forth your ingame name, so could check out the facts? With you being that incative you claim, I doubt any of what you say is true regarding your assets tbh. And to get it into your thick skull. EVE isnt like any other mmorpg out there. Each game got its own set of rules and guidelines put down in the EULA by the creators of the game. To play the game you actually have to accept it. Even you claim otherwise using macro's is cheating and breaking the rules. Players been banned in the past for using macros and will in the future, care to explain why they get banned if it wasnt for breaking the rules and cheating? Brining up other cheats and exploits such as the dupes to justify use macro's is just plain silly. If players want to play a game with macro's then find a game that allow for such, EVE doesn't. quote from the EULA itself; " http://www.eve-online.com/pnp/eula.asp (3) You may not use macros or other stored rapid keystrokes or other patterns of play that facilitate acquisition of items, currency, objects, character attributes, rank or status at an accelerated rate when compared with ordinary Game play. You may not rewrite or modify the user interface or otherwise manipulate data in any way to acquire items, currency, objects, character attributes or beneficial actions not actually acquired or achieved in the Game."

No one forces you to mine, there is tons of other things to do in the game. What drive the game is players interacte with each other and create the content of the game. EVE isn't a singel player oriented game, eventhough there is room for solo players. If people want to play a game where they can be lazy and have the game play for them by used automated features, fine there is games out there where such is possible, but EVE isn't one of them, and thank god for that.

These kind of games seem to try to get people to hang on to their subscriptions by making the startup a painful experience. I can understand considering it a cheat to, for example have an automated aiming program in a FPS. But a script that automates simple mundane tasks? Yeah, if your trying to make it hard to "level up" so people aren't inclined to let your subscription lapse. That's sounds like a boring waste of time to me. Too bad they can't actually come up with a space sim MMORPG that's fun from the start, and have people want to keep their subscription because it's an exciting game.

Well, the startup in EVE become much easier with the new tutorial they introduced practically nursing a new player through the basics of the game. EVE isn't the typical grind for experience type of mmorpg. You dont grind, grind to level 60. Skills are learned real time whether you are online playing or not. There is no "level up" based on grinding missions or anything else. No one forces you to do boring mundane tasks, its up to yourself how you want to play tbh. There is many ways of making a living in EVE, mining is just one of those.

And that has always been one of the big stumbling blocks for people in Eve. Many just can't get over that mining hump. Try as they might to move away and try something else they just don't make the kind of money that mining can. So if the only thing you can end up doing is flying from one belt to another mining no fucking wonder they want to use macros. Tip to the developers: if you want to stop people using macros STOP making bits of the game so boring that they invent them in the first place!!!

Most of the organized macro-mining gangs are simply harvesting ISK to sell on E-bay or IGE and so forth. Eve's issue with this is that the mineral economy has tanked. CCP seem to be under-resourced to handle these folks. Cheers John

If you find mining too boring, don't mine - I don't mine any more. If you can't find anything in the game to interest you, don't play. But don't come here with whiny little excuses about how the game design "made" you cheat. -- John Secker

Geddons with large smartbombs can be devestating for these big macro mining ops. ;-)

They need to introduce a new rule - no loss of sec status or Concord flagging for killing and podding a macro-miner, even in 1.0 space. -- John Secker

You can already do that, you just need to be clever about it. A friend of mine has killed numerous macro/sweatshop miners (around 25 battleships, over 100 mining barges). The clue is to have 2 corporations at war with eachother (corp A and B, make it mutual so it doesn't cost anything), then have a member of corp A gang invite the sweatshop/macro miners (their english is poor). Once they are in gang, have someone from corp B kill them. They are in a warring gang, and if the person that invited them into the gang is in the same system, they can freely be killed. It's a side-effect of how the gang rules work when people join a gang with people at work, but it's highly effective and it's not even an exploit. Good luck :-D -- - Petter

Just make sure you attack the correct person that is actually in the gang :-D Yeah, their english is bad so they won't understand what is going on. -- - Petter
