Be prepared to hear from Dewey's lawyer and his FBI friend Nick... and the DA.

Let 'em come...though I think the DA would be more interested in the
plant that *might* be cultivating in my closet, then some obscure BC3K

Providing a sane environment, you are a good guy, Shingen. I wish you and
your forum the best.

I registered for your forums, but then I noticed the "no trolls allowed"
provision.

Ok, I took "no trolls allowed" as so much flame-bait, and signed up
anyway. But then I read:

"You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous,
hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may
violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being
immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being
informed)."

You'd probably better ban me now and get it over with.

Sorry, I guess we define "troll" differently. I was thinking of
someone else. Not eloquent dissenters such as yourself. Hell, what's
the pont of having an indie site if you can't have an indie
point-of-view.

Also I need to go in and change that TOS thing. I over looked that.
Thanks. The whole point of the site is to get away from the 3000AD
tranny and bring a little "truth in BC' to the general space-sim
gaming public.

I had the whole thing set up to run under phpnuke, and it was working
great on my HDD, but as Murphy's Law would have it, once I uploaded
the damn thing to server, everything went to shit.

Well, at least the forum worked. Anyway..back to the grindstone.

Shin,

I visited your forums and read the following conversation:

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure "SQL Error" is a troll. It might
even be Huffman. If I'm right, how many Toadie Points do I get for
reporting him?

I heard the grindstone only works in offline mode unless you disable
pixel-shaders.

Implementing SQL Errors is one of my favorite tasks.

Shingen, if you run out of SQL errors please let me know and I can write you
a correlated subquery error that will knock your socks off.

What's the platform? I'm guessing LAMP. Try drupal. Not as pretty,
but it works.

I had to take that sub-domain down. That forum was using phpbb2, but
once I uploaded phpnuke, the whole thing went to shit.

Anyone know anything about PHP and/or phpnuke, and why a php page
would load as a blank white page?

The server supports PHP, mysql4 and I think the server is running
Apache2. All the tables in the database are right, and the config.php
file is set to the database, but it still loads as a blank white page.

Is there something I'm missing here? Why would phpBB2 work and not
phpnuke?

I had Apache2, PHP, MySql4 and phpnuke all working on a localhost
server, but on this stupid online server, it's all screwed up! =(

Kind of sounds like a BC3000ad site. Will the Supreme Taco make guess

I don't really know much about any of that stuff, but it is my studied
opinion that you should stick with phpbb2. Not only is it fun to
pronounce, it looks like an obscene emoticon.

I repeat: if you are on LAMP (as you seem to be) then look at drupal.
Don't piss about with phpBB2 or phpnuke. Do the job properly.

I tried that drupal program, but same problem. All *.php files display
as empty, white pages.

This may be a silly question, but does the online server actually
support php?

try putting in a page called something like test.php in your webroot[1]
there, with the following in it

---

<?php
phpinfo();
?>
<p>some dumb text</p>

---

If the page shows up with reams of info on the setup and installed
extensions for php then php is working fine.[2]

If the some dumb text is visible at the top of the page, then php isn't
running, and if nothing comes up at all, then start screaming at someone,
because somethings fucked somewhere. ;)

[1] or /var/www or htdocs, or whatever it is called on that system,
whereever you put the frontpage of the site.

[2] the html should be at the bottom of the page somewhere, and if it
shows up above the fold then you have a stupidly big monitor, and a daft
reolution ;)

The most likely problem is your database is fuxored[*].

But you could try asking for help in the drupal forums, on
http://drupal.org

Make sure you ask in the right way though:

The site is up and working at the above address..though it's presently
devoid of any content. I'm presently converting all my HTML to PHP and
CSS, XML, ect...

I had to go with phpBB for the forums, php/html for the site. It was
the only way it would work on that server. That Drupal thing didn't
work all that well, it was too hard to edit and customize.

The site will be updated post-haste. =P

Like I said, the most likely answer to your drupal problems was that
your database was fuxored. drupal works fine (although I agree it can
be a bitch to mod).

LEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMMMMMIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG!!!!!!!!

Sure..I just added a new Flame Central catagory to the forums. One of
my users was complaining about not having any "general topics" forums.
..of course.. this being a BC site we needed a "general topics" forum
(ie: Flaming Forum) ..and since it's an Indie site, who am I to
argue?!

Maybe we can piss off even The Most High Honorable Supreme Taco
Commander Himself!... not that I'm holding my breathe or
anything...why would I want to? What's he know about BC anyway?

Funny thing though..I just found out that someone posted a link to the
site at 3000AD and then that thread suddenly disappeared...

Inquiring minds? Nah! =P

Well it seems I've had to go with phpNuke in the end.

I tried Drupal, Mediawiki, and a strictly HTML bases site. None ot
them was what I was looking for.

Hopefully this Nuke based frontend will work. At least it's stable on
this server, and doesn't return a bunch of PHP errors.

Well it seems that Derek has shut down the site. There was no "legal"
reasons for this, but the IP folded and the site was killed.

The site will remain however, (even if I have to find another IP), and
anyone who has an opinion should post here:

This is so ridiculous! Your site HELPS the Battlecruiser community.

Derek is the one that benefits most from a strong Battlecruiser community.
Yet, he's the person that causes the most problems for the Battlecruiser
community. He just can't handle not being in total control. He apparently
can't stand the thought of not having absolute all power and control over
everything mentioned about his game.
