What can I say? The graphics and game interfaces are absolutely identical to those in the original game....but in much higher res. Down side: Max res is only 800x600 (but there may be a patch gives all the current res's). The contrasts between Privateer Remake and Privateer Gold are interesting. Both have much higher res ships and space objects than the original game. PR has all the current standard res's, while the current release version of PG has only 800x600. PR uses the original game's base graphics overlaid on the Vega Strike menu system. PG has all new high-res graphics for the bases and original Privateer menu system. Essentially, PG is an exact copy of the original game....no more, no less. OTOH, PR adds all sorts of new features made possible by the Vega Strike engine (i.e., multiple ship ownership, new storylines, new ships, planet locations, turret AI). The guys who developed the two versions all seem to know one-another and participate on each others forums. I'm not sure, but I think they started as one group, had philosophical differences about where the remake should go and split into two groups, each doing its own remake version. In any case, both versions represent tremendous devotion on the parts of both teams.
