Just a bit of a ramble. I was playing Fallout Shelter on my computer, it works much better there than on the phone, but really it just made me want to play the old turn based Fallout 2 again for the 4th or so stint, instead of fallout 3 or 4. So far I'm running only the Restoration Project & official patch. I really like the restoration project so far, I haven't noticed any annoying changes, but there's definitely restored content I've run across that I really like, and it includes a lot of the other fixes that you used to have to get separately like the encounter/speed fix, and high-rez fix, as well as a ton of bug fixes. It's on par with Werner's work on VTMB patching. As far as bugs fixes, I've only had one crash bug in the last 2 weeks. I'm also using cheat engine for the speed hack only, the game's just too slow without it. Around 2x speed seems about right, much more and it's hard to get to where you are on the maps. You have to remember to disable it when traveling though or it cuts down on encounters by the amount sped up, which I'm about 50-50 on remembering to do. About the only thing else I'd really like is something to highlight items, I don't appreciate pixel hunting anymore. I haven't found such a mod yet though I looked briefly. Oh, and probably an inventory mod, I'm tired of inventory juggling. It's taken me a bit to get back into it, I quit for a day and played some Brutal Legend, not bad, but then the fallout bug called me back. I must have made 20 characters getting somewhere between the temple to the den with them before restarting. Level 6 the highest before getting ones that were just right. On my first character I had to look up how to get through the door in the Temple again as I'd forgotten how to lockpick, and of course once I start on the spoilers, I can't stop :( I had decided to try playing through with an unarmed master & a stupid character, which I'd never finished the game with. I tried once with the usual perfect firearm character, but found it a bit boring as I'd done that so many times previously. My current 'final' pugilist is S 6 P 7 E 6 C 6 I 7 A 9 L 8 Gifted & One Hander. Tagged Stealth, Lockpick & Speech. I'm speculating if One Hander was a mistake. It works with unarmed for a +20% to hit, but I'm finding dealing with runners really hard and annoying. Having some chance to hit with a hunting rifle would be useful. I tried Small Frame, but I just can't stand the lack of space and required inventory juggling. Even without it, I'm annoyed by the inventory juggling. So I ended up going for the no-tag cheater method of unarmed. Go to SF get trained up there, then start putting points into it, then later I'll go get trained some more elsewhere. Even playing on easiest settings and having bought a mega-power fist in SF and farmed up some cells for it, playing unarmed is really hard. Even with bonus move, I find chasing down runners is nearly impossible, and my guns with the one hand isn't good enough to shoot them in the back. I can't stand giving Sulik a gun to do so as he likes to burst me in the back, and Vic is a coward who likes to stand around with his thumb up his ass 90% of the time instead of helping me. I got lucky and found the crashed shuttle, so I'm thinking of tagging energy weapons instead so I can use a phazer throughout the game, but the character's not really built for that. I've got to start over my stupid playthrough, as I was following a stupid guide, and it said to take awareness, but that doesn't seem appropriate for a stupid character. Also went Fast Shot as aiming for the eyes doesn't seem right either, and I love me some SMG crits. I'm surprised I found some quests to do that aren't in the stupid guide too. After several stupid characters I finally settled on one after thinking about who I thought was the worst actor/actress ever, and came up with Tara Reid, so I named my stupid character Tara and gave her blond hair, and I imagine that's my character. It makes me happy :) I've been trying to go along beside the unarmed playthough so I can see the differences and try things with her. It's much more fun, and even more effective just due to the difference between using a gun and your fists. I keep wanting to try a Paladin type, killing all the evil, not stealing, gambling, etc. but the problem is I'd probably just end up killing everyone, as almost everywhere someone is doing something bad (maybe your village isn't and that's it), and if you take them out everyone there wants to kill you. I've already tried a 'kill everyone' run long ago which I didn't care for. I'd like to use melee weapons, but doing the unarmed is so hard I don't think I'd want to try melee which seems inferior to me. - Justisaur

There's also some speed modifications you can change in the ini. So no having to use cheat engine for that anymore either, and it keeps the same encounter rate on the world map. It actually has a separate world map speed, so I could set that pretty high and just get the encounters without waiting for the travel to happen. No inventory mod yet. I probably won't go searching for that one. - Justisaur
