I've started playing this game recently (so much I've forgotten!), and was wondering if anyone could help out on some things. First of all, what can one do with the dog in Highpool? It attacks me, and there doesn't seem to be much one can do with it. Also, how do you install a new motor for the water pump? I tried a servomotor, but it did no good. What can one do with the mayor in Quartz? I've picked him up, but I don't know where to deliver him. I appreciate whatever help you can give... Nicholas

Sure. (There seems to be enough traffic here to start a FAQ. Hmm......) Nicholas> First of all, what can one do with the dog in Highpool? It attacks Nicholas> me, and there doesn't seem to be much one can do with it. Also, how Treat the dog as you would almost any other thing in the game. Waste it. If you want to see little Bobby whine about his dog and attack you, take the loot the dog drops (I think its just a jewelery (sp?)) Nicholas> do you install a new motor for the water pump? I tried a You need to get an engine for the water pump. You can buy one in the Rail Nomads camp. U)se it on the tile where the old/broken pump was. Someone will appear out of nowhere and give you some good loot (for starting characters at least). Nicholas> servomotor, but it did no good. What can one do with the mayor in Nicholas> Quartz? I've picked him up, but I don't know where to deliver him. Keep him around as a party member until you find someone better. then dismiss him. Be sure to relieve him of all his worldly possessions before you do this. :) Mike

It comes in handy when you meet that girl in the wheelchair at the motel in Quartz (or is it Needles? I always get those two towns mixed up). JP

The water pump needs a new engine. You can buy a new engine from the rail nomads for $500. Whatever you do, save those servo-motors for later, you'll need them! You'll find that there are a number of characters in this game that will join your party. You'll have to decide which one's are good enough to keep around cause you can't keep them all! You'll find that some are better than others.

You'll find that the majority of characters in the game are useless fools
who burn whole clips of ammunition on desert dwellers....there are only 2
of real use in the game: 1) Christina in needles, you can swipe an uzi off
of her, and its by far the easiest automatic weapon to get, then you can
dump her. 2) Vax (i think thats his name) the "human cyborg relations" bot
that you can get in base cochise...he has some good equipment you can steal,
and a couple useful skills...but no npc can come close to replacing a real
character.

I guess you got a bum copy of the game, because my NPC's are just peachy, i.e. smart enough to know that you don't burn a clip at anything in sight. The only time they start to burn clips is when my real characters are getting maimed (unconscious, serious, etc.), and that's exactly when you DO want your NPCs to do that. Your last statement makes me think.... if you clone an NPC, do you get a controllable (PC) character? Its been a long time since I cloned anyone, so I don't quite remember how that works. Mike
