I must beg to differ with a previous post, pardon me if I do not give the
name of the person who said this, but my short term memory seems to be
impaired and I have no idea how to quote a previous message. I would like
to address the idea of the "classic orthodox struggle between good and evil"
(I know it was put something like that). I find myself disagreeing rather
heartily to this idea, simply because that is just not the way it is. What
you would be doing there by having a story revolve around that idea is just
another revamping of so many other cliche plotlines that exist in other
games, not to mention utterly defying the way things really are in reality
as we know it. The world and its machinations are not strictly black and
white, good and evil are in fact completely relative, and should be
considered as such when put into the storyline of a game. Twists and turns
and jumps and surprises in plot along those lines are incredibly interesting
and often insightful and thought provoking. I definitely do not want to see
just another holy crusade to stop the forces of evil. That would, IMHO,
make up just another piece of clicheware, and I doubt that I would get much
satisfaction from it. Another thing that bothers me a lot about that ideal
is that the standard method of carrying it out consists of the incarnation
of good (in this case, the Avatar) doing a whole lot of stuff that
eventually amounts to one thing, beating up the big nasty at the end (in
this case, the Guardian). If I were to count how many times such a
situation has been played out in books, games, or other such media, I would
be here for a very long time. When I play a game, ideally I do not want to
just win, I want to learn from it, and I believe that a scenario that
revolves around the destruction of the bad guy leaves nowhere near as much
room for insight as does a game that follows an alternate scenario. I am
not in any way trying to flame here, nor am I trying to push my ideas on
others, I am simply expressing my own views on the issue, and I thank you
all for your time.

Hey there. I picked up a copy of star trail, and I have only 1
problem with it. It seems that when you are in combat, if you cast a
spell the entire game gets really messed up. You can't see what the
heck is going on in combat anymore. Has anyone else had this sort of
problem? Is there going to be a patch put out somewhere so I can get
this fixed and play my game? Arrrrggg...I'd hate to not be able to play
this correctly now that I've bought it.

First of all, the parts with the jumping from rock to rock and instantly dying
if you miss DEFINITELY need to go. That was THE most annoying part of U8.
As for combat, I think that, as suggested before, you should have a choice
between turn-based and real time. If you go with the real time, you should be
able to move without having to sheath your sword, run over to the spot, draw
your sword again, and then finally be able to attack. Also, in U8, fighting
more than one opponent was next to impossible. I'm not sure how you could
solve that, but something needs to be done.
Inventory needs to be improved from U8. It was next to impossible to pull
anything out in time to use it combat, specifically against the Ghosts (in
U8), who while you were trying to pull out you're little icon thingy for the
spell were pounding you to death.
I might be going against public opinion when I say this, but I think it would
be REALLY cool if there was some sort of a MAJOR plot twist right in the
beginning. Like, for instance, the Avatar fought and killed the Guardian, but
now, he's been corupted and took his place. You have to play someone else
totally new and try to defeat the Avatar. Just my humble opinion.
Thanks for listening!

I haven't seen anything like this happen. I've played for 10-15 hours
and only had one problem. This occured when I tried to go off the map
and encountered the elves and tried to retreat. The game locked up.
Besides that the game hasn't had a single problem.

I might add that the game doesn't functions correctly if you don't set
it up as the installation instructions say. You need to have about 1MB
of Expanded memory. If you have less or none at all the game will run
but it crashes and does weird things.
