You need:

The Helm of Courage (to be found by solving the goblins thread in Monitor)
The Crystal Rose (you get it after the Trial in Fawn)
The Mirror of Truth (free Ale and then talk to Gustacio)

After you got the above items, enter the Dream Land and talk again to the Woman
you met. She will tell you to get some dream crystals. After you got them, she
will give you a Serpent Amulet, and you will wake up. Now you can go through
the swamp.

You must drop them on some altar in the City of Furnace to get the Blackrock Key
to get to the Serpent Gate there.

I don`t know if they are better than the other magical weapons, but you need
them in the Endgame.

	All three items will let you free the dream realm from its 
present state and you'll be able to pass through the Gorlab Swamp
without having to worry about falling asleep again.

	Some of them give you protection in combat, I think its the
ring and crown. The serpent armor is certainly the best armor you can
find in the game but the staff is not a very useful weapon. The other
serpent items have other very important uses but are no good in combat.
(If I remember correctly, that is.)

	Yes.

You need to go to the other two cities (Fawn and Monitor) to get the 
other two items--finish as many side quests as you possibly can in both 
towns (hints: talk to Yelinda in Fawn and talk to the provisioner {Krayg 
is his name?} in Monitor about his trips in the wilderness).

You need to finish step 1 above in order to go through Gorlab.

Go to the temple in the Underground City (the one north of the Test of 
Purity with lots of snakes in it), and place the keys on the altar 
there.  You should get the blackrock key, which lets you get to the 
serpent gate outside of the temple.

I didn't use serpent swords or daggers, if that's what you mean--you 
could, it's just that I didn't.

The most # of characters I had in the game at one time was 5, and I 
didn't try for six, so I don't know.

I'm currently playing Serpent Isle, and might be able to help.

You can find one in Moonshade, and one in Fawn, after completing the 
town's "mini-quest". Try talking to all the mages in Moonshade after you 
are a mage (have a spellbook); there's a clue there somewhere.

You need to finish the dream world before you can go further in the game.

Apparently, you put both of the keys on the altar near the Pillar of 
Fire, and you get -- well, I don't know because I didn't find the Key of 
Ice. I don't *think* it's one of the "important" items in the game.

I've found the Black Sword to be much better than the Serpent Staff in 
combat. Definitely equip all the Serpent jewelry, though.

There's just not that many people willing to join you. Hey, look up; at 
least Boydon has a 30 strength! (Can you say "pack horse"?)

Mirror of Truth
Helm of Courage
Crystal Rose of Love

They serve no purpose other than enable you to do some things in the swamp.
To get the Helm, you must seek out the Goblin King.  To get the Rose, you
must uncover the secret of the Oracle in Fawn.  I (or others) can provide
more details if you want.

Just worry about the Dream world for now (and get the three items)

Inside Furnace, you use the two keys on the alter at the Great Temple - this
gives you a new key which then takes you to a serpent gate.

The Helm of Courage from Monitor, the Rose of Beauty from Fawn, and the 
Mirror of Truth from Moonshade.  You also need to bring back Ale in 
Moonshade.  The gifts serve no purpose except in the dream world.  Make 
sure you are carrying all three of them when you cross the swamp.

You can't stay awake until you complete the dream world.  The swamp is 
cursed.

When combined on the altar in the gargoyle's temple in Furnace, they will 
form the blackrock key, which will help you leave Furance.

They're decent combat equipment.  Just MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THEM.  They are 
vital.

Not many people will join your party anyway.  I think it's 8, though.
