Well met Xeen, The Codex of Ultimate Wisdom caught Xeen writing: : The first month that Intel produced the 100 chip in volume was October : after the bug was fixed. So these people's claims are untrue. They are simply : trying to make this bug a bigger deal than it actually is. : Intel has also been making bug free chips for four months now so there : should be no doubt as to how many good chips are out there. Unless a system : manufacturer is seriously lagging behind with their chips you can be assured : that your new Pentium system you plan to purchase will be problem free. Make this may be true in the US, but according to Intel Singapore, it is unlikely that any of the vendors here will have the corrected chip... however, I managed to get Intel Singapore to gaurantee me a replacement chip a priori should the system I buy prove to have the faulty chip, although, like the US, I had to explain the kind of work (heavy statistical analyses) I would do on the system... They agreed to courier me the chip within a week after I get my system and call them back with the system details.. : sure you ask the manufacturer when the chip was produced. I will be buying : a new Pentium motherboard next month and I don't have any reservations about : it because I know that the problem has been fixed. I am not jumping on the I will be ordering a P90 system this Sat at a computer show... but I'll try and wrangle a same gaurantee from the vendor just to be doubly sure :) -- ************************************************************************ * Sir Launcelot du Lake Internet: swk...@leonis.nus.sg __ * * Avatar & Knight of Britannia Bitnet: swkgohw@nusvm.bitnet / \ * ********************************************************** | () | * * * |\_\ /_/| * * I know now why you cry * | _ _ | * * but it is something I can never do * |/ | | \| * * * | | * * - the Terminator * /____\ * ************************************************************************
