Vinny,

According to the hint book, there are only about 60 different non-main
quest dungeons in the game, so you are very likely to run across identical
dungeons in the game. As for where your quest item might reside in a
particular dungeon, that seems to be different depending on the item you
are looking for. If you search the same dungeon twice, for two different
quest objects, they may be found each time in opposite areas of the dungeon.
I will tell you that I have ALWAYS found the quest object that I was looking
for. It may have taken a loooooong time, but it will be there somewhere,
barring maybe that a generated boulder is blocking a door that you need to
go through (I've never seen that, but I've heard people talk of it on here.)
Things you should look for are secret doors on your automap, and red-brick
teleport walls. In fact, object quests are made easier by the fact that it
may not be necessary at all to go through switching all the levers and stuff
to get to your goal. There's usually multiple ways to get somewhere in these
dungeons. One method I like to use is to cast recall at the entrace, go down
one path from the main room as far as I can get til I get stuck, then I recall
back to the entrance, unload into my wagon, and repeat with another path. Any
happy adventuring!

: Given this revelation, it actually IS possible for us to communicate about
