What is wrong with you? MIPS is THE best way to compare > processor power! Not Mhz, not architecture, not number of diodes, not > how many you can shove in your ass at one time, but MIPS because that's > what it all boils down to. You fool. Hmmm... let's say one computer (A) can perform 10 instructions per second. B can do 5. B does 10*10 and gets a result of 100 in 0.2 seconds. A does 10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10 and gets 100 in 1.0 seconds. A can't multiply. Which is faster? It's not necessarily how many instructions you can perform in a given period of time, it's also what those instructions *are*. A processors might be slower in pure MIPS, but if the instructions are more complex, is might well be faster.
