Thus spake Rick Cortese <rico...@earthlink.net>, Sat, 11 Jul 2009 10:08:22 -0700, Anno Domini: >And what would it take to get you !cynical? Being there myself I see my >continued participation in MMPOG's as residual obsessive compulsive >behavior rather then something I enjoy. Can't think of the last time I >was like giddy happy laughing or couldn't wait until the next time I >logged in. What would get me 'cynical'? Mmos like Aion obviously. Or did you mean _not_ cynical? LOTRO for one - still playing it with much enthusiasm, CoX will pull me back in again no doubt. >After reading your comments I started asking myself 'what perk would it >take to get me to even d/l a free to play game?' and all I could come up >with was breakfast for two at Denny's. Sheesh! I would try online >tic-tac-toe for a free Grand Slam right now and feel like I was getting >a great deal. Oh yeah, that's right, the game is supposed to be the >attraction on its own. You would think so. Not sure what your point is, other than you're even more cynical & jaded than me perhaps...? I never suggested I wanted some sort of reward or pot of gold outside the games themselves, other than some quality time wasted. A mmo that made me *think*, rather than just Google walkthroughs & wiki guides would make a nice change, which LOTRO did/does a bit of with some quests. The only thing I'm even mildly excited about on the horizon are GW2, STO & maybe SW:TOR (but the last has to get past the Bioware 'consolitis' factor which I doubt it will). I just signed up for the APB closed beta, but don't ask me why, heh (my mate did it, so call me a silly sheep I guess :). -- Nostromo
