Actually I think they're just fine, if not a bit overpowered. Once you
are past mid-game or so, you'll be killing the more powerful foes by
wounds instead of 'hit points' (vitality), so the wounding attacks
from archery are much more powerful than any normal hit.  Spellcasting
is also very powerful, in a more subtle way. Once you get the AoE
spells, start the fight with a well place fireball and it all turns
easy. Also, summons are really useful, plus the armor buffs (for the
longest time, the best 'armored' member of my party was the charlatan
pfft)
