Of course... but it HAS to be believable. THAT is the problem - most
movies are NOT believable... take most action movies out today: HOW many times
has the evil character HAVE the chance to kill the good guy, only to wait for
some stupid (and sometimes NONE) reason and then get killed by the good guy?

Erm... I _DID_ say 90% of all Hollywood movies. Which means the
remaining 10% is worth watching.

Not really... unless you are NOT a thinking human being and also DO NOT
go to see movies.
As for the "inspire the public to imitate evil deeds" bit... I don't
really believe that. One HASto watch the "bad" stuff to know just HOW evil we
can become - and also to keep ourselves in check far more often. Hitler's
evil today could not happen easily - simply because of all the differing views,
debates, and the communication/transportation explosion making our world SO
much smaller. The only way that this could happen would be in parts of the
world were you only get a single source of information... which unfortunately
still happens today.
And if your CIA decides to go ahead with the security measures it wants
to implement on the Internet, well it will not be too long before the media
capital of the world follows suit.

With Natural Born Killers, Mr. Stone said that his reason for making
the film the way it is was because he wanted to show us just how bad media can
get: "Take ANY small insignificant incident and boil it out of all proportions".
Eg: The Bobbit case, the OJ Simpson thing, the Waco thing... what is the big
deal with a woman cutting her husband's genital, or yet another murder, or
another cult? When you consider, in your country, things like the KKK, Clinton
having legislative houses controlled by the opposite party, the mistreatment
of blacks/whatever-the-political-correct-term-here-is and American Indians, and
so on... those things were totally immaterial. And as you said about the child
rapists... yet another case. How often do you get such a blanket media coverage
of THAT?
We live in a sad world, unfortunately - we always have.
Now lets stop this because this in NOT a morallity/movie newsgroup.

P.S. These things do not just happen in the USA... but all over the planet.
So don't think I have anything in particular against you guys.
