Other games like This last statement just shows that you know very little about how much space full speech would take up. Given that a CDROM has 600 MB of free space, you're saying that a game WITH free speech would take up only 50 MB? Gimme a break! I was very much suprised to find out that the CD-ROM version of Quest For Glory 4 takes up _544 MB_! That's the cost of full speech! Anyway, on the issue, I think that even if all that is added is full speech, that enhances the experience so much. Now whenever I play a floppy-based game, I feel that I'm missing out on so much just because there's no speech!!! It's like going back to those old black and white movies with no speech... So MUCH more can be conveyed through the human voice (read: EMOTION) than can ever be conveyed through just reading the words. That's of course if it's done well... And there are CDROM games that are done well -- John Rys-Davies is EXCELLENT in QFG4, and I have high expectations for his acting in WC3. *************************************************************************** * Milamber,(yc...@columbia.edu)* There have been rumours that the Great One* * Master Magician, * known as Milamber has been masquerading * * Sorcerer's Island, Midkemia.* as Chew Yung Jin around the Columbia * * * University campus. * *************************************************************************** * "I am not a barkeep, I'm your host, the proprietor, a sympathetic ear * * to the wretched souls who pass through these portals" * * -- Quark to O'brien * * ST:DS9 "Captive Pursuit" * ***************************************************************************
