Use a glass sword.  You can find one by hitting the parrot in Spark's 
house in Trinsic over the head with a mallet.  He will give you the ship 
coordinated for a cave where there are a few glass swords.

Use them SPARINGLY!  Use one for th monster, and one once again for the 
stone harpy.
