I've already completed, Return to Zork v1.0, but when I saw the 1.1 update mentioned, I grabbed it so I'd have the latest version before a friend came over to play with it. With the new version, we seem to be seeing a bug that wasn't in 1.0. When you go to see the blacksmith, to pick up the cleaned up sword, if you're carrying the rotten meat, the game hangs. The blacksmith smells you, and starts to make the "You stink!" comment, but my whole machine locks up he actuall says it and I have to cold boot. If we drop the meat outside the smithy first, then we can go get the sword and pick the meat up again afterwards. I know this wasn't a problem for me when I played the shipped 1.0 version. Has anyone else seen this, or is it likely that I've got a configuration problem? --Herb Miller Hewlett-Packard Distributed Computing Program Chelmsford, MA 01824 EMail: mill...@apollo.hp.com

However, my whole machine locks up when I try to do anything with the sink in the hotel room at the Inn. The decision diamond pops up then that's it, game over. I've sent mail to support@activision with regards to this but it is still a little soon for a response. I've also found two images where the bottom third or so of the picture is garbaged. As with the previous poster, has anyone else seen similar problems? I had a different problem with Return to Zork version 1.1. Since I upgraded, my soundcard makes a loud hissing noise, like what you hear if there's static on the TV. It ran fine under 1.0, and I've reverted back to it because I don't know what's going on. I have a Pro Audio Spectrum 16, and am running the CDROM version. Thanks! I also notice that some soundtracks in the game appear to be missing in the RTZ 1.1 version. Most notably is the music you get when you open the drawer and look at the files in the Mayor's office. I have a SB16 running a single-speed CDROM. W.H.Watt
