http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2016/09/23/inside-the-troubled-development-of-star-citizen This piece is together with the Molineux article from a while ago the best gaming related article I have read in a long time. This thing is New York times standard and that on Kotaku.

A good read. I'm more interested now in SC than before reading that.

If Star Citizen does end up hitting the goals that Roberts has planned (by beating his horses to death to get to the finish line), there is no doubt in my mind it will be amazing. Will it be fun to play? Not sure. Will it be an amazing tech and beautiful art demo? Absolutely. For all the problems mentioned in the article, that was the only place I found any mention of anyone being concerned about it being fun to play. Better studios than these guys have cancelled practically finished games because in the end what they came up with wasn't all that fun of a game to play. I don't get the impression that Chris Roberts really cares that much about gameplay. My guess is that it's going to end up like Kingdoms of Amalur, with some sort of scaled down game being pushed out the door when they realize they're going to run out of money. It won't be enough to save the company and they'll go bankrupt. I don't know how that compares to what was promised, but they could have done a lot worse.
