Hi. I've just bought Wingman extreme and tried to play it with MechWar 2.
But it seems that the Smaller stick (Whatever its cal;led) at the top of
the joystick idoesn't work well. The mech keeps twictching to the left
and right, top and bottom.

Has anyone been able to work it well with MW2?
Please help.

Hi there,

I've got a Wingman extreme too and never had any problems, AFTER I configured
it as a Thrustmaster. If I remember correctly, you can choose your input de-
vices in the escape-menu only if you are not on a mission. Leaving the con-
figuration-dialog, you can calibrate your joystick and your hat.

Your problem is that your game port speed is not set quite right.
You need to try out the other game ports on your system (i/o card,
sound card etc) to see if they work better. Your other alternative
is to get a dedicated game card (~$30 U.S.) that has an adjustable
port speed.

Howdy.
I'm using the Wingman Extreme as well. That little stick you refer to is
called the "hat". Make sure you have your stick configured to be
"Thrustmaster" compatible. I believe that's what it was.

I never had problems with my hat wandering. Make sure you calibrate your
stick as well.

The best advice I can give you is to return the joystick and buy
something better. I own a Wingman Extreme myself, and I've never
been able to get the "highhat" to work properly with ANY game that
supports it. I've spoken with Logitech support on several
occassions, and all they keep telling me is to return the joystick
and get another one. The only reason I still have it is because I
just got fed up with going back and forth to the computer store.

    There is nothing better.

MMMMaybe you need a better game card? There is more to it than just the
joystick.

Got mine. Works with MechWarrior 2, Flight Unlimited, Decent, just to
name a few. I personally think it is better than the Thrustmaster because it
is cheaper, you can't drop pennies into the base (friend of mine actually did
that), doesn't get destroyed as easily, has a better feel and isn't
springloaded for Arnold. :)

Just in case, to the poster of the original problem, you ought to make
sure you have a good game port and not a cheapy one that only supports
one joystick. The Extreme and Thrustmaster joysticks use the buttons
of both joystick 1 and 2 to get all their controls...if you game port
is missing support for a second joystick, your hat and buttons 3 and 4
won't work.
