I just got Mech 2 for the IBM, and partially due to the influence of my playing of Doom and Descent, I really do not like the default config, and I would like to make a lot of drastic changes to the mapping of controls to the keys. However, when I tried to make these changes, I noticed that there were many keys that I could not select for mapping controls to. Does anyone know why this is? Is there anything I can do (short of buying rudder pedals and the like) in order to get more freedon in my configs? Thanks, Damion dam...@wam.umd.edu

When customizing a control for a keyboard operation, click on keyboard on the upper left hand corner of the screen. This will bring up a list of available keyboard keys on the bottom right. Available keys show up in white, unavailable keys in grey. Since there are more keys than can be displayed, there are scrolling arrows provided for you to browse through the keys on the keyboard. I have done all that stuff that is described above, and basically, what I am wondering about is why is it that only certain keys are available to be chosen for assigning game functions to. (In other words I have noticed to my dismay that in the list on the right hand side giving available keys, all too many are in grey and thus cannot be chosen.) I want to make some very large changes to the general organization of the Mech controls, and the abbreviated list of pickable keys prevents me from doing so. So, it is a relatively trivial point, but still why is it that only certain keys can be chosen, and is there a possible way to lift this limitation? Thanks for the help, Damion dam...@wam.umd.edu
