I can't seem to get my gravis gamepad to work under windows 95 with pitfall or even configure the gamepad under control panel. Anybody have similar problems. I have to figure it out, because playing with the keyboard is killing me. Thanks in advance. Brian mo...@gold.mv.net

Are you using a game card or a y-cable? If so, try removing the card/y-cable and
plugging your gamepad directly into the port on your computer. After I connected
mine directly, it worked fine.
I've encountered a lot of people who have had problems with their Gravis gamepad
in Win95. Has anyone had theirs work right away?
Curious,
Albert

When the pad is centered the movement likes to jitter to the left, making it almost impossible to play the game. In the joystick control panel the centering crosshair jitters too, but only by a pixel, which ain't unreasonable. The game seems to consider any amount of movement off the center, no matter how miniscule, as a trigger. BTW the gamepad is hooked up to the port of my GUS.

This is odd, as my Gravis Gamepad has been working wonderfully. Do make sure you install the joystick driver, and then make sure you tell the driver you are using a four button gamepad (it can't autodetect the joystick). You can do this from the Control Panel. Oh, for my joystick port, I'm using the built in one off a Logitech Soundman Wave. I have heard of problems from people with multiple game ports on their machines, even when one is disabled. -- Ben Combee, CAD Software Engineer, Perl proponent, RC Cola drinker Motorola Paging Products Group, Strategic Semiconductor Operation--Austin com...@ptsg-austin.sps.mot.com +1 512 891 7141 Pager #897141 - Austin

That was my problem. Win 95 would say that the game card was connected properly
but the joystick wasn't. And it wasn't just my gamepad but any joystick
including my CH FlightStick. Once I removed the gamecard and re-enabled the port
on my sound card, everything worked fine. (Win95 glitch, maybe?)

I had this same problem. I've been using the thrustmaster ACM game card
and have the port in my AWE 32 disabled. Worked fine pre-WIN95 and works
fine in dos games in win 95 even though it told me the joystick was not
correctly connected. I got pitfall yesterday and no go on the joystick.
I opened my ssystem checked if the sound card port was disabled and it
was and still WIN95 told me not correctly connected. Installed drivers
for the ACM still no go. Now the ACM has two joystcik ports, but they
say for one joystick use the left one, and I had been doing that all
along with my dos games no problem. Well just for the hell of it I
plugged the joystick into the right port and voila everything works
fine. Weird.
