I've played the demo with a joystick on a 60 mhz Pentuim - I was
pretty impressed, and thought it was better and much more fun that
FXFighter.

Yeah, but it looked fine, and was *fun* to play...

The game only uses 4 buttons, so the Gravis is perfect. What impressed me the most was all the multilayered scrolling and parallax floors. Not even the SNES version had that much going on. The sprites are huge and the animation very fluid. In my opinion, Time Warner did an excellent job. -David.

You were right on all accounts except the very last thing you said.
Time Warner totally screwed up the moves they printed in the manual.
Maybe it was a last minute change or something to make it easier to play on
the keyboard (imagine performing a sequence of moves while holding down three
keys... how many keyboards on the market can handle that?) but they should have
at least included an errata sheet!
Also the CD can install the whole game to your hard drive but every time you
want to play you gotta load the CD-ROM driver and find the CD and stick the
sucker in yer CD-ROM drive... royal pain in the butt.
But the gameplay itself was excellent. So was the graphics and sound/music.
Hope Mortal Kombat 3 is as good a translation...

Actually, I found a way around this completely by accident. I was playing my Nine Inch Nails CD(from the CDROM) and I started up Primal Rage. As it was booting I remembered that I needed the CD, but I didn't bother because by the time I had the CD out, the game had started already! I think it was because the CDROM was in use, so the game just thought that it was the right one. This is with the full install. The one thing I hate about the game is that there is no way to reinit the joystick. Too often have I pressed down towards and I jump backwards. Anyone know if there is a way to reinit without quitting and starting the game? Ok, so they screwed up the moves. C'est la vie... at least
everything else was very well done. I imagine registered owners will
probably be able to call their Tech Support line and get an errata sheet,
or maybe even download it from a web site somewhere...

Copy protection... isn't it wonderful? :)

PC Gamer has already reviewed MK3. It got an Editor's Choice
award. On the down side, it IS a sequel... there isn't very much that
could be termed totally "original". On the up side, you will be able to
play MK3 over the modem! I think it supports net play too, but I'm not
sure. I'll almost certainly buy it when it comes out.
