Walter DAO (wd...@netcom.com) wrote: : I downloaded the shareware/demo version of ABUSE. I wasnt expecting much. But : I must say that the GFX are very well done, the action is excellent and the : overall result is top notch. : It reminded me of the Turrican series and Obliterator from that company that : was supposedly going to be one of the partners in the Triad (no, not the : chinese gangster group.) (you, know, the one that made excellent intros but : lousy gameplay wares ?!?!) (ohhh yeah ... psygnosis or something ) : But why was the game coded in LISP ? because for a game like that, even : on a 486, there are screens where more than 4 moving objects will slow that : action down. On an old 8 bitter like the c-64 or the game gear, or even : the old oink-tendo NES, games like that didnt need VLB,PCI, turbo processor : and had more than adrenaline pumping factor. : It is said that the LISP interpreter is included in the prg. : In what language was it coded ? C? C++ ? pascal ? Basic ? : Preciously hand coded in machine language ? : In any case, why was the game called abuse ? the main character looks like : a Predator (look at the helmet) and the enemy looks like an "Alien" entity. : (If you have ever seen any ANTs that look like those creatures, tell me : where and I'll pay big bucks to look at them and collect a few of them : to create my own ant oops .... alien farm). : It should have been Aliens vs. Predator. : Abuse .... what a cheezy name ... : But the game is great !!! .. I am thinking about registering ... : The thing that bothers me the most is that "die and continue from the : last saved game ...." Hey !!! this is a PC, not a nin-inuendo. : (infinite continues sucks !!!!) : Walt Abuse is made up of about 90% C, 7% Lisp, and 3% Assembly(Or something like that). And the name IS cheezy, but what's *YOUR* name? Kill the Aliens?
