old news but, for those wanting to know if Xbox2 will play Xbox games or not.... The backwards compatibility issue might be solved with a beefy version of Xbox2 / Xbox Next called the 'Xbox Next PC'. a console-computer hybrid that is reportedly going to run PC games, PC software, Xbox games and next-gen Xenon/Xbox2/Xbox Next games. That is, if Microsoft gives the go-ahead to introduce it. the reported $599 price-point is not too bad, IMHO. If it does everything that a lowend PC, Xenon and Xbox can do. - that's less expensive than Sony's failed PSX machines which cost like $800-$1000 at introduction. the Xbox Next PC has been in R&D but I do not know for how long. maybe 2 years, I am guessing. The core of Xbox2 / Xenon itself has been in R&D for over *3* years according to Microsoft's J. Allard. Xbox Next PC has been put through consumer focus groups / testing whatever.
