Thanks for the reminder. This was a freebie on Humble Bundle this summer
but I hadn't claimed my key on Steam and it was only valid until
Saturday. I think I'll give it a try now that it's in my Steam library.

Just Fallout 4. Finally. I took a long time trying to get over the
hurdle of character creation. I decided on "Master Spy" with heavy
emphasis on sneaking and hacking and lockpicking. I found the idea of
being a ghost who magically appears behind targets and puts a silenced
gun to their head appealing. Super lucky guy (for crits almost all the
time) was also a consideration but I didn't go that way.

I've now played about 30 hours. The good stuff is interesting
exploration and side missions but then there's been some pretty
repetitive grinding. I ran into the Brotherhood of Steel and since
they're easy XP, I've been doing their fetch and murder quests a
lot. But it's just so lame... I don't remember being this bored by other
Fallout games and at least FO3 I did a lot of questing from Megaton
before picking up the main quest. Then again, the whole Fallout thing
was new to me back then.

The sneaking skills are slowly getting to be useful. Amusingly sometimes
enemies even run right past me so I've had to run after them and bonk
them on the head with my trusty tire iron.

I do like the weapon modding. Armor modding too for sure, especially
adding pockets. Too bad there's no way to make ammo.

I think a few more levels and I'll start the plot stuff for real.
