I think in general a larger majority of the people that might upgrade
have existing devices of lower performance than those they will be able
to buy. Still, the biggest difference is that the NV1 uses the system memory
to store things which I would say has an advantage and a disadvantage.
The disadvantage may be the access might not be as good to info., but
then I just saw some guy getting "flamed" asking about when faster PCI
buses will appear. It is important to note that older chipset may not
give as good performance to PCI bus access as newer chipsets.
The advantage is that a developer only needs to consider how much system
RAM is available and they can then dynamically allocate it in any manner
they wish. This way you are not constrained to assuming card X will only
have so much RAM available while card Y might have some other amount. In
which case you have to make sure to account for the the lowest common
denominator.

Strange that the CL board with audio+video is going to come out a year
from now. Obviously now would be a better time. In that case, anyway, I
do believe they will attempt to reorganize the way the audio is treated
so it may allow better performance than from a standalone card. That is
late next year however. Kind of late it seems.
