So I'd suggest >Cd-Rom first, then the processor. I think your VRAM is fine for now, but >if you want to waste your $$$, so be it. I disagree... The difference in actual performance can be minimal. I read a review comparing 2x and 3x CD-ROM drives, and the average improvement in speed was 13%. Kinda paltry. I have a 2x Mitsumi, and I was able to play the Phantasmagoria promo (.AVI) at full screen with no stuttering or frame skipping. Also, the full-screen animations at the end of the LucasArts demo of The Dig was high-detail, high-speed, and smooth. If you have a 2x CD-ROM, and it seems to work ok, I'd upgrade the processor now, and wait until the 6x CD-ROMs dip below $250 or so. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Neal Miller | --------------------- | "This Side Up - Not Plummet Please!" mil...@rpi.edu | Southampton, PA 18966 | - the box for my Taiwanese CPU fan ---------------http://www.rpi.edu/~millen3------------------------------------
