The solution to this, like many other missions, is mech customization.
I gutted the given Mad Dog, stripped all heat sinks, and gave it jump jets,
9 machine guns with 400 rounds each and 1 Med ER Laser (ok, so I was
paranoid I'd run out of ammo). Oh, and I think I had enough tonnage left to
add more armor. Granted, this isn't a new or innovative design, but it
worked for me.

When engaging enemy mechs, use the jump jets to charge them (to get into
range) and open up in group fire mode. Most of them can't handle more than
5 seconds of sustained fire before exploding. I should mention that once
you get close enough to fire you might want to go into the standard run-
circles-around-enemy-with-90-degree-torso-twist-while-shooting tactic,
or your mission might end real quick. :)

So I went with this mech (dubbed Mike's Gunnin' 'Dog) through the standard
nav point suite, took out my Jade Falcon twin with ease, passed by the JF
base, waved at the Summoner at the gate to the terraformer, calmly walked
through the front door.

Once inside, I charged the Rifleman and opened up on him (he's the biggest
threat in the compound IMO). After he went down the Nova went quickly.

(Sometimes other JF mechs try to join the party. You should treat them like
you treated the rest, with lotsa lead. (-: )

As I headed round to the vent on my way to the core I blew away the exhaust
lines, because they would impede my movement when I wanted to escape.

The rest was easy. Blew the core with the med. laser and booked on out of
there with jump jets back to dustoff. Mission over.
