Hi, I was just robbed of a stunned Sectoid Commander. I was assaulting an alien base, and this commander was actually roaming the hallways. I know it was a commander because I used a Mind Probe on it. Anyway, one of my soldiers stunned it using a Small Launcher (it took 2 stun bombs to do this). After about 20-30 turns later, I finally killed the last alien in the base, and my Skyranger returned home. I clicked on the Research button, and was shocked to see that "Sectoid Commander" was NOT in the list of new projects. What happened to him? I know for a fact that he did not wake up and walk away, because after each turn I looked at where he was stunned, and his body was still lying there. My questions are: - Is there a limit on the number of aliens you can have in one alien containment unit? - Do stunned aliens die after a long while? Also, is there a bug with saving a game during battle? I've tried this 3 times now, and 2 of those times the game crashed. Actually the game didn't literally crash, some big garbage text scrolled by and then the game said "Alien base still intact..." I'm running this game under genuine MS-DOS (not Win95 or OS/2 or anything). Thanks for any help. -- Visit my Utah Saints web site: http://members.xoom.com/slu/Utah_Saints/ Spencer Lu Email: spenc...@erols.com <--- Use this address when replying

Maybe you should have carried the stunned creature in someone's
backpack. Anyway, the better tactics to destroy an alien base is to
destroy the 'heart of the base' and go back to the green area (with a
live Commander carried there!).

As I recall it's twenty.

Nope.

In my older version of 'UFO - Enemy Unknown' I had the same problem. Play
tactical missions without saving it! Now I bought the CD-ROM 'Unknown
Terror' and the savegames are working. In the older version I also had
problems with Alien Base missions.

Actually there is no limit to the number of aliens held in containment. The only limit is that you can contain ten different kinds of aliens in race and rank. Any second and third alien of same species and rank will not count towards ten. > - Do stunned aliens die after a long while? Nope. > > > > Also, is there a bug with saving a game during battle? I also found out that a mission tends to go wrong if there are still Interceptors and Skyrangers engaged in following alien craft. To avoid this bug do make sure your craft are either patrolling or en route. This should take care of this bug. Apparently the earlier version of this game had this bug. If there is a patch to this I don't know. Maybe Microprose can help. > Thanks for any help. > > -- > Visit my Utah Saints web site: http://members.xoom.com/slu/Utah_Saints/ > > Spencer Lu > Email: spenc...@erols.com <--- Use this address when replying

First, There is a limit to the number of aliens in containment you can only have ten different types(i.e. Sectoid soldiers, or muton engineers) after that, they dont show. Second, a question, did you hit the commander with any other kind of weapon before stunning him? if so, he could have had a critical wound and died from that. Third, sometimes, a string gets loaded wrong during a battle and any save after that load can cause the game to really screw up. the only way to remedy this is to go back to a save before (long before sometime :>) the battle and try again. Hope this helps Matthew "The Etheral Slayer"
