why does ammo disapear if its not even used, just loaded in to the gun.

I get tiresd of having to walk around with all my guns unloaded, fearing that 
if i kill the last guy, i will lose tons of unused loaded ammo, and even for 
cases where i have 37/40 remaining in a clip, when i get back to base that 
ammo is disregaurded, is there a fix for this in ufo, or tftd, 
I havent player apoc yet.. yea yea im poor, the demo had good music though.. 
so i dont know if it has that prob or not..

please any info would be nice

                           Yes, sadly all ammo clips loaded in your weapons
will be lost after battle, wether you used them or not. ( I  think this is
a- bug? ) The best thing to do,  is when you make your last kill, ( before
you end your turn ) un'load all your weapons ammo ( well the ammo you dont
want to lose ). Personally I have never come across this problem, maybe it
depends on what version you are using. (I am using ver:1.4, Presuming your
on about UFO)  Any way, if you want to try some patches or editors go to
