Hello faithful X-COM players, It's me again. Well, we here at Star Blade have been talking it over, and we've made the big decision. We're going for it. Microprose be damned, there will be a UFO Remake. We may never be able to sell it, but thats not the most important thing to me, or to my company. Star Blade was founded on the idea that there are not enough games today that actually contain a game. Nowadays the company writes an Engine, and they try to fit a game around it. If the game does not show all of the wonderful features of their new product, the game idea is scrapped and they try to make another one. Or, they make a crappy game and develop a Total Convesion for it later, knowing the origional product is total crap. We at Star Blade have a very different point of view on the subject. We are inspired by the older games that didn't have the high technology of todays games, but were infinately more enjoyable. We start with a good game idea, and we fit the technology around THAT. This, I beleive was the motivating factor behind the orgional X-COMs. We'll give it all we can spare, but we'll need help from you, the X-COM community. Artists, Musicians, Idea People. Unite! We can disprove the old idea that only a large company can make a game! Development news, and ideas can be posted all here. And as those of you who have tried know, I respond to emails as well. This will be the best X-COM yet, and with all of the creative people on this NG, I know we can pull it off. Once again signing off, Christopher 'MaddCat' Dudley Star Blade Studios

Good to hear from you again Chris. I am sure I speak for the majority of those who either contribute or lurk here when I say we would be more than willing to assist in your efforts. Exactly what we can contribute depends on the individual, naturally, but do you have any kind of plan to go about this project? What happens next? Detonate

Erm... not exactly the answer I was looking for, to be honest Chris. But I guess you knew that anyway. Lay off the beer before going online, eh ;-) Detonate > >The plan is thus: We make the greatest X-COM of all time. ;) > >>What happens next? > > >We collect and collaberate ideas to write the design specification.

I also work at an ISP, in addition to Star Blade. >Lay off the beer before going online, eh ;-) I don't drink. ;) Anyway, in reference to the questions. I answered quite honestly. We simply gather ideas to make the game. We write up a design specification, and we proceed from there. i've been programming far too long to start something with out a completed design document. ;)

Any truth in the rumour that you bought the XCOM licence from MPS, Chris... ? Also, any chance you can post the list of ideas you collected from email and the ng, to give our newer contributors some idea as to what has been stated already? Many thanks Detonate
