Nah, this community is just not appreciative of freeloaders. All of the
games in the X-Com series are still available commercially. If you like the
game enough to want it, put your money where your mouth is.

AND STOP FREAKIN' TOP-POSTING!!!!

Okay, if they're available then I have to ask 2 Questions:
1) How many XCOM-Games are there (I know of 2: UFO and TFTD)
2) Where to purchase them (I live in Germany, so that is rather a
problem...)

UFO,
TFTD,
X-Com Apocalypse,
X-Com Interceptor
X-Com E-Mail (fun whilst it lasted ;) )
...and a daft one featuring an X-Com android... X-Com Aftermath, I think?

Most of the above can be found in the Collector's Edition, which most of the
online bookstores (Amazon, etc...) can order for you. (I think there was an
old thread on here listing exactly where...perhaps do a google search?)
And of course, they occasionally pop up on eBay from time to time ;)

Enforcer. I do have a copy but didn't make it work on my old PC. I may
have to try again on my newer one at some point.

Not Aftermath; something with an e? UFO:Aftermath might be the name
you're remembering; a vaguely similar game from ~2003, but by most
accounts fairly terrible. (I didn't buy it...)

Three "conventional" X-COM games, the first three, then they became "in
the same setting, but not the same game".

If you want more in the same vein, finding a copy of Jagged Alliance 2
is probably worthwhile. (There's the original game, then an extended
"gold edition", and at least one complete mod available from the
Internet ("Urban something"). Recommended. It was re-released a couple
of years back, so shouldn't be too hard to find; it's just a shade under
six years old now, so the graphics look a little aged, but certainly
more modern than the "proper" X-COM games. Misses the research option,
but slowly lets you get new hardware from the market, so the same
dynamic is there.

In all honesty, I haven't seen a good game in the same style since JA2.
Which, damnit, I now want to play again...

I already played JA2 and I didn't like it very much. And above all, it's
very unlike XCOM.

You can't compare graphics between two different genres.
But that's the problem with all the remakes of XCOM: Too good graphics.

Well a research option would not fit into the story of JA2, where you
play a group of soldiers (don't know the proper word) and not a secret
organization.

I can understand what you're meaning: As said above all the remakes of
the good ole classics are too far away from them. Being a
hobby-programmer, I'd appreciate it to have the sources of some games
just to create an editor-styled system to make sequels using the
original engine. It's a different feeling playing "Albion II" or a fan
made XCOM-Part with the original engine instead of a new one (like in
"XFORCE" or "Alien Invasion").

And because of my Computer being too fast for the games, I still have a
486-Processor DOS-PC (MSDOS 6.22) to play them - but I need a monitor...

That's X-Com Enforcer which was an arcadey FPS.

The main difference between X-Com and almost all other games in the
genre is that other games have linear, scripted missions and X-Com
doesn't.
