Got Aftermatch last Friday and played it for a bit on the weekend.
While it might not be everything I wished it to be, I think it's a
worthwhile game and am having fun ... albeit getting my butt kicked.
Actually, I'm not doing that badly, but I can tell that I will be
getting my butt kicked shortly. :)

Anyway, sometimes I get missions to recover a live alien. I can win
these when I incapacitate/kill all the aliens, but the mission
objectives and game manual say it's possible to pick up an
incapacitated alien and carry him back to the LZ without wiping out
all aliens on the map. I can't for the life of me figure out how to
pick up an incapacitated alien. I can pick up dead aliens, but this
doesn't really help complete the mission. Anybody figure this out?
It seems the only way you can pick something up is by walking directly
on top of it, but you can't move on top of an incapacitated alien.
When I unequip my weapon and try to click on the alien, I get an "I
don't understand" message from my soldier. It hasn't been an issue
yet, but I can imagine that some mission with a lot of dangerous
aliens might be better to grab your target and run to keep from
getting your agents shot up more.

On another note, anybody come up with good rules of thumb for
delegating missions. Unless agents are critically injured, they can
immediately go on another mission at full strength. So, it doesn't
seem real necessary to delegate missions (yet) as I haven't noticed
any disappear if I don't get to them immediately. That said, I have
delegated some of the missions whose effect isn't great, but am
wondering how others delegate missions, if at all.

Thanks.

You can move on top, you have to use the force move icon. (below force fire)
Also you can only carry aliens in your soldiers hands, they cannot go into
backpacks.

I delegate "boring" ones. I am sick of pilot rescues, so they get delegated.
I also have been delegating capture the transgenant (sp?) missions since I
manged to complete the Russian story mission (only just, but with my full
team still alive and kicking (well throwing various smoke, fire and acid
grenades everywhere!)

Thanks for the comments. Are the fire and acid grenades worth it?
Seems like the normal explosive variety do a lot more damage than the
others. Haven't seen that particular mission yet, but it sounds like
fun. The only "plot" quest I've done is for Area 51. First time
through, I did very well. A number of agents needed to be
hospitalized afterwards, but no one died. Second time through, I got
clobbered and only left the place with 2 out of 7 who started. And
this after thinking I had done particularly well to extricate myself
from some sticky situations outside the base. <sigh>

Before I bought the game, I had the impression that due to limited
numbers of soldiers, you needed to reload if you lost a lot of
soldiers. After that Area 51 mission, though, I got 5 new troops to
replace those I had lost, so I'm thinking that it's not such a big
deal to lose guys. Sure, you might lose some experience and training,
but it doesn't seem as dire a situation as I had thought. I think
it's viable to continue the game even after a setback of that
magnitude. Perhaps later missions will change my mind about that,
though. :)
