Can anyone post the research path for the advanced subs? I would be really grateful. -- "Since old man says "NOBody scares shit to avoid, but they avoid because its f_cking dirty. Here you go:- http://home.quixnet.net/~kid/TFTD-tech-tree.gif But if you're stuck, it may not help you; there's a bug in TFTD that (randomly and occasionally) makes the game impossible to complete, by denying you certain technologies. If you haven't got Mag Ion armour you aren't going to win, basically. Several utilities out there (XComutil, Clark Wehyr's site) will patch this, however, i.e. you can award yourself any technology you want, and this re-enables a winning path. -- Et qui rit des cures d'Oc? It's not actually random - it's caused by interrogating a Commander of a specific race... Tasoth? IIRC researching a Commander is supposed to give you two new research paths, but the Commander in question only gives you one, which denies you the chance to get the advanced subs and hence complete the game. - Mel C - Denied

Tasoth? I've heard this but I've only found it feasible to complete TFTD once, and that was the first time I played it. Since then I've always hit this wall and still do even though I'm aware of the Tasoth issue. I reckon there's something else.

Thanks! > > But if you're stuck, it may not help you; there's a bug in TFTD that > (randomly and occasionally) makes the game impossible to complete, by > denying you certain technologies. Well, I wasn't stuck but the technologies needed to get the MANTA and the HAMMERHEAD didn't match the info given in Kasey Chang's FAQ. Since I hadn't played the game in almost 6 years and at that time I never kept track of technology paths, I was wondering if I had run into a bug or if Xcomutil had changed technology paths. <snip> -- (this space left intentionally blank)
